  2. I've added a second hatch to the family an AE82 which runs a 5spd manual. My Girlfriend is going to learn how to drive in this car so I am expecting a F*@ked clutch sooner or later. The problem I have is will the Gearbox come out by itself or does the engine and box need to come out to do a clutch. Thanks in advance
  3. Driving like a fool (nicest word I can find), on the street, with bald rear tyres. My question what if a kid walks out in front of you? or what happens if the unexpected happens. Good luck trying to pull that car up without killing yourself or others.
  4. 4000 rpm at 100km/h is a bit rough carbonboy, with my auto I nudge about 3100rpm
  5. Has anyone had a 2A hooked up to a 5spd manual, I am assuming it is possible due to the 4A having the same block. I am just wondering how it went. I can't really afford a 4AGE transplant as I have just bought a house but would like some extra performance. I am however buying a rolla sedan wreck AE82 that is 1.6 3 spd auto, so if anyone wants some sedan parts at a fair price posted at their expense pm me. Thanks
  6. I hope you at least fused the wire you have running to the battery, right at the battery... otherwise yeah hope you have insurance !

  10. Hi I am having problems with my 2A-C (Auto) pinging, closest I can get the timing is one degree of factory specs.... It will not run e10, standard unleaded, does not run well on bp ultimate 98, or Caltex Vortex 98, and stay away from freedom fuels (even their Premium has ethanol although they seem to deny it).... The petrol I have had that has been the best is the Caltex Vortex 95 R.O.N. However when it is hot it still pings under moderate load, changed the temp sensor in it, checked the thermo fan all good. would this indicate that the timing belt isn't lined up correctly therefore making the harmonic balancer timing marks out of whack ? (Also engine has 158,000km's on it) I have also tried tinkering with the mixture, could it be doing this if it was running lean ? I am honestly stumped and all help would be greatly appreciated.
  11. When the module on my distributor (AE80) was on it's way out cruising at certain RPM warm engine my Tacho would dance about 700rpm either way of actual RPM. Replaced the module and no more issues with the tacho or reliability !
