I have an AE95 with the motor you are currently pulling out of your wagon and a 4AFHE ecu. I have been told a few times by knowledgeable Toyota folks that everything is the same on the two engines, compression included. I am interested to know what the differences really are. I picked up the ecu in hopes that the mapping of the engine would just be more performance based and it would be an easy upgrade, but after installing the ecu, the engine will crank, but simply dies just after. The tach will rev to ~6500 rpm before it dies. Ive done some diagnostics, but don't know where to go next. The things i have checked are fuel pump and a small amount of timing (advancing and retarding slightly). Anybody have any answers? Thanks!
