as in the ra 40 strut upgrade is unsafe?
-
Basically I'm looking at front strut and brake upgrade for my ke70 sedan, thats cheap (as in stuff i can get a upullit). Just a few questions i would like some answers on please. the RA 40 celica front struts are they same insert diametions of the ae86 and xt130. The RA40 lca are the same length of the xt130 correct? Also do the RA60 hubs and calipers bolt to the ra40 strut.

S13 Front Suspension Upgrade Questions
thatdude replied to thatdude's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
it for road and track. If it gets defected then it will get a engine swap and become a pure track car -
Hi everyone, I have a ke 70 sedan that I'm looking at putiing a s13 ca front suspension setup in. I'm wondering in anyone experience what is a good brake booster and MC upgrade. I will still be keep the standard drum brakes atm. Also does anyone know what minim size rims i can run with this set up. Any help much thanked

another thing to consider how old is the battery. It could be the battery just doesn't want to hold charge anymore or has a dead cell. From what our battery suppliers have told us a battery should last from 2 to 5 years
-
it sounds like something is drawing power from the battery when your the car is off. I would start by checking that inertia and boot boot light (if installed) are staying on. The next step I would do is get a Amp meter and pull each fuse out one by one and put the leads of the amp meter where the fuse would go. Making sure the ignition is off. Be sure to test them all. Any of the reading that seem to be high there is a current draw on that circuit. In a KE70 i would only think the clock circuit would have any draw from it or if u have a alarm that circuit would have a minimal draw also. Hopefully this would help you out

i paid $229 for a full 4k ACL 0.040 oversize rebuild kit from repco(which includes pistons rings bearings head gasket seals etc, part number is ERA2509EBB1. Only that cheap because it was on clearance. Normal price is something like $357. Water pump cost me $89. I'm still waiting on the time timing chain kit. So give Repco or someone like that a call or pop in and talk to them.

Thank you that does help ty for ur time people

i did search and that still doesnt really help that much. as the in the acl catalog the parts seem to be different from pre 1982 to after

Hi this may be a dumb question and ive tried to search it but no results that i can use. Ive bought a couple of ke70s from here and ive just stripped down one of the cars engines. But I'm not 100% bout the different 4k engines. The guards say Hicam bout the engine its the original one. How do i tell if its the high cam one or no.Whats the difference between the two ect. Any help much thanked

CMI toyota in adelaide had some last as we replaced some on a customers car from memory they were about 16$ each but not 100% on price and that was our trade discount.

If it was me doing it i would slice the hose with a blade as the hoses are much cheaper to replace then if u break the heater core. That what we do at work. The hoses arent that expensive.
-
if ur refuring to me. Well if i want a fully sick race car mate i wldnt of bought a ke70 to start with,Ive done the supercharged 8 thing already mate. I bought it as a work car and something to trash now and then, oops blow the engine up dam there goes 80$.

I'm keen to see the out come of this project too. As a mechanic I'm alway interested in seeing something like this done. As it will be front heavy ull probly need to shave the diff and tub it out to get nice fat tyres on the rear. May even a few lead block in the very back of the boot for just that little bit of extra weight at the rear. My vs ute engine is worked slightly didnt cost alot to do but made a big difference in acceleration. A set of yellow terra rolla rockers wld be the first engine upgrade i wld be doing. Good luck i look foward to seeing the progress. -
Yeah my work uses bridgestone flinders park. Nigel is a good bloke
