1. spiggot bearing for the input shaft of the t50. fWD's don't have them.
2. what issues do you have with your rotary swap?
3. here is the boot with fuel system almost finished.
4. i was lucky enough to have a mate build mine for my ke20/4age car. i got a set of mounts off the ke70/ae71 with the 4ac engine. then sort of cut a section out of the middle and my mate welded them up. i keep seeing you in st.ives. get some old school rims dude! Chrome rims are for Tempe Finance posers and the ke25 isn't a posers car... just my two cents. :P
5. did you get a quote? i'm keen for a good dash for my ke20.
6. nice find. whens the 13b going in?
7. JC807 = Jono Car = 71 ke20 (small port 4age, 22spline T50, ke55 diff, ke55 front brakes, surge tank, bosch pump. but no computer, starter motor, alternator yet)
8. yeah i figured it was changed with the "facelift" model. anyone know the month of 1973 when they changed? Also does anyone know when the emission laws came in. I believe my car is Australian built - at least it has the "This vehicle was manufactured by Australian Motor Industries LTD" plate. My car is 10/1971 and only has 9 ADRs: 2: Side door latches and hinges 3: Seats and Seat Anchorages 4: Seatbelts 5A: 7: Hydraulic brake hoses 8: Safety glass 10A: 15: Window Demister (ceased to be in effect, 2005) 20: Can't find any info on ADR's 5A, 10A or 20 The early and late ke20's have a few differences: i can't put late headlights into my early car using the same fixing holes etc.
9. i'm sure there are many reasons why General Motors is going broke. maybe buying shit companies like Daewoo and Holden have something to do with it. Toyota have long been the most profitable car company (BMW second) and this year they will overtake GM as the biggest car maker in the world. Corollas even outsold Falcons and Commonbores the other month in Australia! how come i don't see any dickheads stick Daewoo badges on their Commonbore utes, just loads of chevy badges....? 3.8 Buick in corolla is a bit different yes, but the motor is such a common motor and still not very good. why not buy a 750i and build a V12 rolla if boat anchors rock your boat?
10. i got a whole set of new rubbers for my 1971 ke20, problem is with the front rear leaf bushes, there seems to be a different leaf bracket on the early ke20's which is a bit smaller than the later ke20's. probably about 50mm diameter on the later ones and maybe 30-40mm on the earlier ones. anyone know what year they changed over?
11. ended up getting a surge tank, two pumps and three filters.
12. still need an alternator, starter motor computer and the thingmewhatsit that goes on the back (right side for FWD) of the head for the cooling system, but i need the slimline one where both plugs AREn;t next to each other (so it doesn't hit the firewall) got the clutch slave cylinder yesterday (sprayed myself in the eyes with it, yeah fully sic) This weekend: finish painting the boot, install fuel system and boot battery, again. Still need to modify a gearbox crossmember to suit.
13. got the fuel system sorted out. I ended up going for a Bosch Motorsport fuel pump with a high flow, low pressure pump filling a surge tank. Had it all mounted but its removed now so i can paint the boot the same dodgy hammertone as the engine bay. :P Buying that haltech is getting closer and closer... Love that orange turbo 3k from the phillipines.
14. BMW m10 engine. mine has 365 000 kms. still goes hard (for ~100bhp)
15. very nice... seen that on the road. like the white wheels.
16. i like cars that move fast but don't make much noise. very stealth. 330Ci comes to mind. Seriously, unless you are making good power don't bother with a loud exhaust or you just look like a stupid boy racer.
17. loud doesn't equal tough. most people can see when a car is revving loudly but NOT REALLY MOVING VERY FAST. sounds like you want a different car mate.
18. cheers for that link to the pics, I will have to copy that setup! thanks again, Jon
19. found a snapped stud in engine block. was so happy i managed to remove it i had to share a picture! here is a pic of the recaro i put in the car using the standard ke20 seat rails. i'm sure my dodgy engineer will approve! colour a bit garish! wouldn't mind the BMW colour "Hennarot" (that orangey red colour) I think that would be better than FORD festiva blueberry
20. as i'm trying to do this conversion as cheap as possible (except the computer) I am hoping I can just use an external pump and use the existing tank (sounds like I will have to either modify it with that bowl thingy or find a suitable EFI tank with similar dimensions). anyone NOT install a surge tank and have found they should have? anyone been talked into getting a surge tank and thought they didn't really need it?
21. Got the stud out! (won't be half as scared next time) Guess that means motor will go in one night this week or on weekend. Anyone got a mate with a 318i who wants a really good parts car? I want $1000 (coz it needs a blue slip)- good body, new fuel pumps, reco diff, great interior, K&n filter, bilsteins, eibach springs, manual 4dr, will take it to farm for paddock bashing if it doesn't sell by April. got given a company car so i let this one slip. 2.5 double vanos motor also available as are 17" rims for a little more money. 0401541167
22. Getting mixed opinions about surge tanks. What are your opinions/experiences regarding a surge tank setup? I've been told that an external Bosch Motorsport pump will pull fuel ok from a normal tank as long as you keep enough fuel in the tank. I understand that when you start cornerning hard etc you might suck some air but would'nt the fuel pressure reg up front sort this out? probably not so good for the pump but they aren't too expensive really. So if YOU have installed a surge tank please post up some pics. jon.

24. Hi, I got given a couple of ke20's, and bought smallport 4age, 22 spline t50, custom tailshaft, custom headers and 2 core radiator for $1500 to go in since my mate is changing to a 4AGTE. my mate has made me engine mounts to suit as well as welding the stocker diff mounts onto a ke55 diff. will probably go haltech e6x computer like everyone else. i have started plumbing in new brake lines (my mate lent me the tool for that but they are only $65 anyways). I put a recaro in, just had to elongate some holes on the original rails and it sits really nice and low. what else, i had to bash in the firewall a bit but after some bog and hammertone it looks ok. A thickish metal plate was welded in to provide support for the master cylinder so it doesn't feel shite. So i have all the bits and just need to bolt it in. but those haltechs are ~$1300 ouch, have to save for that. not sure why those imageshack pics didn't work - phaarq
