  2. probably spools a lot earlier than 8, besides even off boost this thing would boogie.

vids or it doesn't happen :)
  6. keep the bumpers standard i reckon. is this the 24 valve version?
  7. you can run positive offset rims so you don't have to shorten it. my mate has an ae86 disc rear axle-to-axle in his ke20 and runs pulsar ET rims. sits nice. whole shell is for sale at the moment acutally.
  8. sweet, was keen to find out more about your car! nice work.

i had a swaybar made up for my ke20 from pedders - $250. thing is though; it wasn't anything too radical, it was close to standard but with slightly different bends.
  10. chrome mirror yes, eyelids and visor aren't doing it for me, but yeah, good example.
  11. nice selection of wheels you have. we had the two door panelvan ke26 over here which some people have put glass all round.
  12. +1 needs some rims Marty, your car looks a bit ordinary in your avatar - YET ITS SO FAR FROM ORDINARY!!!! ...but i'm sure you have something in the pipeline. i'll try and come in the xr6t, would be good to flush out some cobwebs.

good purchase. wasn't this car only $16k or something? out of interest are you finding 340hp at the wheels to be a handful?
  14. hey mick, i've done a bit of reading, but there is new gear coming out all the time. when my boy gets a bit older, and if he's into cars, we'll do an electric motor conversion into an old car - so i'll do more research then as the technology will have changed a lot by then (~8-9 years away lol). that white datto used to get great times even with a stock diff because the torque delivery was so smooth. The datto has had lots of $$$ and many battery/controller upgrades. I think electric motor conversions are kind of like buying a TV or computer - better, more efficient, more powerful stuff come out every year. If my electric car happens it will be purely for nostalgic cruising, not drag racing or street racing.
  15. oh yeah the old 3KGTZE! hey Mick 3 words: ELECTRIC MOTOR CONVERSION
  16. margarita
  17. buy our ae112r for $7k, you'll get the mighty 1.8 motor and a 5 speed gearbox.
  18. anyone else go to Ghostface last night at the Forum? i thought it was ok, bit loud - but i'm a quality not quantity type of guy (and becoming an old fart i guess). also took ages for him to take the stage and there werent' enough support acts. any other thoughts?
  19. i had 4.33:1 borgy diff and a t50 and it was horrible on the freeway, needed another gear badly. only positive was that it would start spooling instantly.
  20. 15s go on easy. have a look through the ke2x dedicated thread.

    My New Beast

cheers for the heads up, SCOTT: Its got a FSH, with receipts and its had the manifolds re-torqued. I'll get onto those bushes before its out of warranty though - good call. It will only get about 12,000kms put on per year, so I planned to do an oil change (Nulon 10w/40 synthetic seems the oil of choice on the forum) at about 6000kms (about 6 months) and get it serviced by my mechanic yearly (for the logbook service). Will this be ok Scott? AE174AGZE: stock exhaust will be staying put. Injectors and flash tune after warranty is out. I've put in a BMC air filter panel. I've always used K&N filters but thought i'd give those Italians a go. I just put on some new tyres: Pirelli Dragons (had them on the ke20 and liked them) 235/45/17 - retailed for $318 per tyre but got them for $190 each. Its funny though, even with only 26000kms its got a few Ford rattles and squeaks here and there with the interior bits and pieces.
  22. got this new shopping trolley for my wife + baby (and for me as well sometimes). I looked hard at Toyota Chasers, Nissan Stagea M35s, WRXs, 530i Touring (the wagon) and this seemed to tick the most boxes in terms of practicality, parts prices and insurance costs, and of course potential power-up options down the track. *Toyota Chaser - boot is smaller than the ae112r corolla *WRX wagon - again, boot is deceptively small *530i Touring & M35 Stagea - both very expensive to insure (sometimes over $2k per year), and next to zero easy power up options I got this 07/06 (first reg. 12/06) BF XR6 Turbo with 26,000kms for $23k. It costs only $1k per year to insure, parts are readily available and the power up options are amazing: 270-280rwkw from only injectors and flashbox/tune (less than $2k) check out the BUMSEX standard issue RTA plates. edit: its slower than the ke20 was, however gets traction a lot better so from a stand still its quicker, but say 20km/h to 150km/h the ke20 would have it.
  23. so whats being used off the white car?
