My sister, her husband and 3 kids moved to Belmont and now Swansea because it was meant to be cheaper, these days they may as well come back to live in Sydney except that now he has some job in the mining industry up there somewhere.
considering everything major on my car is perfectly legal i'm happy to take a risk with the bonnet pins.
i thought about those flush mount ones but i reckon the stainless pins with the lanyards would suit the age of the car better.
for the granny/race spec look?
I'm going to install some bonnet locks on my ke20 as they are known to flip bonnets.
has anyone done this to their car and have pics of where they put them?
I don't have my car to go have a look at (its garaged at the in-laws), but i'm wondering whether the pin will end up going through the thick part of the bonnet skin.
unless you give it prolonged thrashing you won't even need an oil cooler. i don't take my car to the track so i don't even use an oil cooler. it takes ages of boosting around before the oil temp will nudge 100 degrees, takes a while for the oil temp to get to 85-90 but once its there its pretty stable.
how much boost you going to run? i think i remember hearing GZE (365cc) run out at 15psi but i'm 100% on that. i'm using GZE injectors in my setup. Is your motor just an NA smallport?
I'm putting 10psi through my NA smallport and its fine.
the rods aren't GZE specific, that is the rods in GZE's come from the NA 4age of the time be it bigport 16 valve, smallport 16 valve or 20 valve. You don't hear of rods breaking very often & I believe its more RPM related than torque related.
when you convert to 4age you add a lot more weight. mine ended up being 850kg. if you go a w box and good diff upgrade you probably push it up towards 900kg.
its your car - do what YOU want. there is more to life than the resale value of a car
my car would be a lot easier to sell if i'd left it standard and i wouldn't have lost any money, BUT its a LOT more fun to drive around in an old school car which actually has balls.
