Yeah, I guess two small holes wont hurt it that much... Maybe post a photo for me? Haha yes I have, see the liteace in the first photos? Sold that for $250 on Saturday with three weeks rego, blown headgasket and free water in the cylinders, but before they took it I pinched the roof racks to put on the 26 :) going to clean them up nicely! They're basic metal and fully adjustable, so I'll just have to trim down the cross bars a little so I don't take people's heads off. I also took the little 'T' centre caps, thought I may want them one day.

Haha Josh, are you correcting me and saying there is no such engine as a 3s-fe? Or because the 3s-ge is much better? I know this, but I have a free 3s-fe :P
-
So your headunit just sits there shaking around, and your wires come out the front? I don't understand how it can work with no drilling haha! I got the boxes for the 6x9s so I'll just sit them in the boot and find a way to stop them rolling around. I was thinking of putting the headunit under the dash too, but I don't think I could have it in the centre because I have an ashtray, so may as well in the glove box, which was another idea I was thinking about too. Plus I have a remote :) Yeah I was thinking about some other car's venetians, but I don't think I've ever seen them at a wrecker, most of the wreckers in the Hobart area are late 80s to early 2000s cars. That I've found anyway. And yeah the Camry is pretty good, the auto gearbox is pretty sluggish when you first start driving, but the 3s-fe is quite lively! It chirped in the dry going from 1st to 2nd, and in the wet 2nd to 3rd I almost lost it it was spinning that much, even in a straight line and I didn't mean to, scared the poo out of me! Almost wish the 3s-fe was in the 26 :hmm:

Welcome to Rollaclub :) Sweet 55! Still running the 4k? What are those stockies off, and how much did the chroming cost? Need more details :) Toby.
-
Kickn5k: Cheers! I might have to get onto him, is Auto Cables a rollaclub username? JordyKE: Yeah I was thinking about some side ones too, I think it would look nice and granny haha. And 2inchs, that may be what I'll go for if I decide i need some lows :) if not 2.5. PMP020: That's interesting, I wonder why they never made them.. As for $450, that's pretty expensive, I might shop around and see how I go. Yeah I was thinking of putting my headunit in the glove box, but surely I would have to drill holes, for the wires and for screws to keep it in place (unless i used like, velcro tabs haha. I have 2 Alpine type Rs in boxes waiting to sit in the boot, a Kenwood headunit with aux etc, and I may be buying a 15" Clarion 1500w sub and sony 500w amp in a box for $100.. Such an overkill, but so cheap! I was also thinking of hiding for 4in or 6in speakers stealthily under the dash somehow, maybe with some retro as covers, but i'd rather not see the soundsystem at all in the cockpit. AND NO CUTTING. Cheers for the advice boys :) Oh and by the way, today I ran into an old friend who is moving and decided to give me, yes give me, his 1988 Camry sedan. Auto, powersteering, new tires and rego till April! I was so surprised, but he has a 2011 Lancer and doesn't care about this, so I'm going to sell it within to weeks, then take him half :) should get about $1500! What a score!!!!! Toby.

Love it! Similar condition to mine yes  Got any photos of the ding?
-
Haha yeah well, the older owners did lose their licences! It's a real shame, I don't want to have to replace any parts And quite a few bits suffered, not keen to source the bonnet trim! Yeah I'm not sure about the venetians, Ke20 ones are everywhere but I've NEVER seen a 26 one. I would get one made though, I'm committed  I love Barry by the way, that blue with the black steelies looks great! Great ride height too, how much did you lower the front?
-
Unicorn, haven't heard that about a car before hahah! Thanks mate :) Cheers Scott, I completely feel the same :) If I could, I'd keep it the way it is and not change ANYTHING from original.. But then I couldn't drive it! (legally) :) And I know all the "don't do's", I go through them in my head when I see someone else molesting their rolla! Does my head in :no2: Scott, do you have any idea where I could source some rear venetians? The internet isn't helping me at all, and getting them made may be quite expensive! But in that comes another problem.. I don't want to drill any holes! Not even for a headunit, but I need my triple j! :sob: Oh and by the way, I've been admiring Sak Wagz for so long, and so many other rollas on here. I just can't believe that now other people on RC are admiring mine :) feels good.
-
Haha, yeah I thought it may be the site, Josh. It's pretty funny actually! Oh and Seabiscuit, I had to write original and granny, because I couldn't write m.int ;) But yeah, white walls, chrome dressing, venetians (which I can't find for a 26?) etc. I love the colour too, if after I fix the front damage the paint is compromised I'd like to get it painted the original colour :) Old man Arch was pretty adamant about 2g though, in one of the previous trips he came down to $1500, but claims he didn't remember and wanted no less than $1800! But yeah, i'm pretty happy with $1500 :) will cost about $1300 to get roadworthy I think, going by quotes.
-
Trust me Crowie, I will. I just need to remember to look after my human girlfriend too  I have some connections at my local Ozzy Tyres, who told me they'll be able to sort out my tyres and suspension at mates rates; always good :) so hopefully I'll have the suspension done within two weeks, whether at Ozzy or Pedders! If I can get off work!
-
They're a rare breed though :) just waiting to be found. Can't help but appreciate the previous owners and thank god they weren't in the hands of some idiots chopping and changing everything.
-
Thanks ke20rolla, I think it is too :laff: I sure am, hopefully going to make it original/granny again, and if/when I get a new car for whatever reason, I'm chucking this baby on Special Interest plates! Edit: I tried to write 'm.i.n.t' (without dots) but when I'd submit it would change 'm.i.n.t' to 'overrated'... The f***? Haunted computer...

Yeah I'm so stoked  I've been looking for ages, falling in love with the idea of various cars (mostly sh*t boxes), but mother would always say, 'Just wait, the perfect one will turn up' So true!
-
Cheers Josh! I love your panno

Haha, thanks SLO-030! What do you mean by 'they'? Barn finds? haha
-
More Photos :) And yes, previous photo says original owners address was C/O Single Men's Accomodation... Pimp? haha.

Hey everyone, So here's the backing story. 6 years ago, a little old vintage car collector bought this little vehicle for his granddaughter as her first car, buying off an old couple who had both lost their licenses, hence a little old people damage to the front but nothing too bad. He called her up and told her to come and get her new car! When she got there, she looked at it an said, "That's old. I thought I was getting a new car. I don't want that!" So the old man left it under his house behind their Jazz for 6 years, charging the battery every two weeks. And he didn't buy her another car! A few months ago, looking in the paper I saw an add that read; TOYOTA station wagon, manual, 1973, excellent condition, 6 years in storage, 3,800 miles, $2000. I thought 1. Hrmm 3,800? not likely. And 2. This sounds too good to be true. I called up and the first question I asked was whether it was a corolla, and it was He also stated that it was actually 38,000 miles but the paper stuffed it up. I went out there that day and had a look with my dad and we had to restrain ourselves from amazement. I drove it to get put over the pits, I felt like the coolest person in the whole world haha. Funny thing was, I was at a major intersection in Glenorchy and a cop pulled up next to me. Of course, the car decided to stall, with no rego sticker and P plates, so I'm there trying to get it to start for about 20 seconds and the cop didn't even notice! Slack! ANYWAY today, we sealed the deal $1500. Apparently it's name is George, which I'm not sure about, I see it as a girl 1973 KE26v 3k k40 38,178 miles! Came with original - Jack in the engine bay and levers Toyota service warranty and maintenance booklet, still with most maintenance vouchers Corolla owners manual Spare wheel, never removed! Tyres I think TEQ toolkit, fully complete with all made in Japan bits Almost fully straight extra front bumper for FREE! Almost m.int interior Has options such as cigarette lighter and ashtray, heater and 'Heater control illumination light' which is a little green down light in the dash Inspection said - Small leak at fuel pump Headlight alignment Left front indicators broken (just the orange plastic) Needs front mudflaps (No idea why someone would have removed them in the first place) Right front brake greasy so pulls to the left under heavy braking (apparently both front brakes were replaced, they just left one a little dirty) Needs front windscreen as this one has too many small chips Flex brake hose perished Rear tyre perished Front L/H wheelbearing loose (from strut leaking?) Idler arm 'not comply' Most suspension bushes require replacement, perished from sitting for 6 years Rear shock bushes don't comply Already sourced most of these with quotes if anyone has any parts, for the damaged parts in the photo below also please contact me! Think that's everything, Now for picturegraphs!

Beautiful Ke20 :) and you have an eye for photography too

I love 2 door 30s! This is so clean. Keen for photos of the engine bay when finished :) Any thoughts on a period steering wheel?
-
After filling up at the servo I went to push the trip meter (as i do after every fillup). Stupidly reached through the steering wheel whilst turning into Hungry Jacks. I have an Autotecnica wheel with the metal 'T'. That hurt. My old WA festiva had a problem where the battery would unplug itself, and whilst driving every now and then the oil light would flicker. But only every now and then so I thought it was the battery fking about. Engine started to tick a little, went to get some new oil and checked the dip and it had been running on no oil for about a week. Oh, and buying into a project car with an un-motivated friend. "It's on your land, I just bought another car, you sell it. I want my money."

Does anyone know where I can get a full suspension bush kit for a 4/73 Ke26? I found this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/COROLLA-TE27-KE25-KE20-KE26-FRONT-SUSPENSION-BUSH-KIT-/310313497849?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item48402034f9 But it's only the front. I looked on the Nolathane website, but the only part that suits this date and model is the shock absorber upper bushing. I don't really need urethane, it's full granny spec so rubber is fine, I just need it to pass pits and ride well. And Google hasn't really helped! Any links or names in lower Tassie would be greatly appreciated! Toby

I enjoyed these videos a lot! Always wondered what it's like to be behind the wheel of a ke26 ;) it's a bit of a dream! And yours is fantastic mate
-
Yeah I want to have a crack at it myself, but I don't want to screw it up and have my wallet regret it! I need a few more small things done so I'm getting a manual anyway, I just don't have a torque wrench. Sounds like Coopers is the way to go! Thanks for that mate
-
I need my headgasket replaced on my 4k in my Liteace, ust wondering where other people have gone to get their k engines worked on in the Hobart/Kingborough area. Somewhere cheap(enough) and maybe someone who would let me watch, I'm keen to learn  Cheers, Toby
