  1. Hi Nick, I remember looking at this car in the yard, was very clean, black dash looked neat and I always wondered what car the gear knob was from? It was bought for $1700 by a local guy. Good luck with your search :) Justin
  2. AGREED... but remember for every "1000 smart corolla enthusiasts" there is one who might just want one badly enough to justify the cost...
  3. Calm down, the ke70 is an ae86 in disguise... since ae86's are going for 8K+ nowadays, I fully support high prices for ke70/ Ae71, heck put them up to 10K... "runs and puts for sale sticker on ke70" But in the end of the day a car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay...
  4. Good to see many aspiring engineers/ engineers on this site, pleased to meet you all! :) Happy to give advice/ helping hand to those still studying, I know your pain! What grinds my gears is pricks that tailgate you when your on the speed limit, keybanging fixes that easily! Cheers, Justin
  5. Hey mate, You can get a Kazz 2 way LSD centre which will be a direct bolt on for the ke70 diff, it will function just like a locker with the added benefit of being able to clutch in and drive normally around corners, however I doubt you'll consider when you see the price... Cheers, Justin
  6. Hey mate, As stated above the fuses you will need to check/ replace are located in the panel to the right of the steering wheel. Look where the bonnet release lever is and follow it straight up and you will see it underneath the dash dimming switch if i remember correctly. Your problem with the car's idle is most likely a fuel mixture issue. Your carby will have two screws near where the accelerator cable is hooked up, one screw for idle adjustment, one for mixture. Base setting for mixture is normally around 1.5- 2 turns out from memory. Also check your points gap is 0.5 and your timing! However I suggest you taking it to a mechanic though if your uncomfortable, then watching him and learn :) Cheers, Justin
  7. Hey mate, As stated above a 3.9 ratio would be more suited to your setup and would give you half decent highway cruising rpm. In all honestly with the torque throughout the rev range of a 4agze there is going to be stuff all difference in acceleration times between a 3.9 and 4.11. However this is just my 2 cents. Cheers, Justin
  8. Hey mate, I would definately come past and help you out but i'm in a different state haha, did you manage to fix it yet? I'll see if I can find a spare mechanism lying around and i'll take some pictures. Cheers, Justin
  9. Hey mate, I've fixed this issue a while back, It is most likely the final few teeth on the window winding regulator. You will need to remove the inside door card (3 screws), Unscrew the window from the winding mechanism (2 screws) and then remove the window regulator which if i remember correctly is another 2 bolts. You will unfortunately need to purchase another winding mechanism though... Cheers, Justin
  10. Hi guys, Was a good meet up with like minded individuals. I have great respect for all the owner built cars! Wanted to extend my thanks to Adam and Peter who gave me a run down on getting into motorsport. Any people interested in doing short cruises after these events? Just a thought... Cheers, Justin
  11. Just wanted to say good work Ben! Good to see you still persevering with the immaculate presentation of your Ke70, will your fastidious nature with this car ever end? haha Will have to get my ass down to a cars coffee donuts sometime to check out the respray (full respray in same colour I'm assuming?) Best Regards, Justin
