  1. Hey guys/gals In need of some KE26 bolt on flares. I know you can get them for KE20's, are the rear arches the same shape as the 20's. So will they fit? Where can i buy them? And for how much? Has anyone ever put flares on a 26 that you know of? Any pics would be much appreciated. I have some very wide rims to fit, pics will be uploaded at a later date..... Cheers.
  2. Going to be sticking with a 5K head. I have managed to find a head and pushrods. So i'll still be running hydro lifters. One because it's less ʞ©$ɟing around. And 2 because i don't need power or anything. I want reliability in the engine. Barely any work to it at all. It will just be running a 40DHLA Dellorto side draught carby and extractors. So the 4K head and solid lifter conversion is scrapped for the time being. CHeers

  4. Alright this topic is back up, finally after much time wasted. Took the engine and all the bits, the 4K and 5K heads down to my engine builder in Montrose. Turns out the heads just aren't great, pitting everywhere and are soft as. So i'm trying to source a good 5K head with minimal work done to it, (anyone have one?) I need the shallow 5K head suitable for deep dished D pistons. Or else i'll get flat tops (how much are they?) Also will the need hydraulic pushrods, as i'm going to stay hydraulic as i'm going for a reliable engine, not a fast engine. Cheers.

  11. Alright so Barry is comign along quite nicely. Rolling a bit in style now. Gone for the mildy rat look (which i know most people hate on here). It's not really rat just yet though. Things i've done recently: > Painted wheels, black outer with red centre. > Purchased a 5K in pieces, going to rebuild it > K50 i've had for a year is fully reconditioned and ready to go in > Genuine Thule roofracks added, heaps of thanks to Water Boy, ie Woody for the hook up > Painted grille and front garnishes > Cleaning him all the time haha So nothing really special. Things i need to do: > Widened steelies > Fender Mirrors, and blank out side mirrors. > Sunvisor > Rebuild 5K Anyways, i have a few pics. Classic Japanese Car Show in Dandenong. (not the roofracks i currently have)

  15. Was 17 finished school. Akways wanted an old car, got a KE. Never looked back. So easy to work on, so fun to drive, so cheap to run. Can't really go wrong. Good luck with the find.

  17. Oh yeah that sounds like it'd be pretty expensive then. Oh well i have work at 1 on Sunday, so that could be a problem. But we should be able to work something out. Considering supercharged 5K. Thoughts? Anyone got one suitable.

  19. Alright, hat seems easy enough. Can you buy the chev lifters new. Cool sounds good. So i'd need to get the 4K cam that has definitely already be ground again? o suit the chev lifters etc? What comes in the rebuild kit? Would be great to find out how much that is. Not too far away then. Yeah i'll be there until about 12.... About that are the rollaclub guys meeting anywhere to roll in together? Yeah i thought that too, but i'm not really interested in a turbo, as i'm not familiar and that's just another thing that can go wrong.
  20. Yeah deep dish D pistons in block, and shallow 5K head. Yeah that's what i thought, cool. The $k head is ported in the exhaust, and a frack in the intake. I will have to check valve diameters. Yeah that would be good. I need push rods as well if i'm running the hydro lifters. Cheers.
  21. Also the 4K head i have has V8 valve springs. Would they be interchangeable to the 5K head?
  22. Alright update. The 4K head combustion chamber is ridiculously larger than the 5K head i have. I don't see me ever using the 4K head, on this engine. I don't have the measurements, but just by eye, i can tell theres a shit load of difference. Anyone recommend the solid lifter conversion for the 5K head? with a reground 5K cam to suit...? Or how much are aftermarket shallow top pistons for a 5K bore? Also i've noticed just by eye, as i don't have a vernier caliper here, that the intake ports on the 5K head are a shitload bigger than the 4K head. To be expected....? (excuse my learning) That would be kinda good actually. Where abouts are you in sth east? Or where do you work? Cheers.

  24. Haha damn EVan that looks nice. What carby setup you/he running? I need to get some 6cc-8cc pistons for sure. Might have to do some research, because i want to run my 4K worked head to suit the cam it was suited for. The 5K i just picked up came with the D dished pistons, so i definitely will need to change them. I'm taking the 5K and everything to the old mans work shop tomorrow. Might measure the head capacity difference between the 4 and 5K's if i get a chance.
  25. Thanks for that. Gives me a good understanding. Alright, so you're running a 4K head on 5K block, just using a 4K reground cam. I have a 4K reground cam which is relatively lumpy, will need to get the actualy numbers of it though. I bought an engine a while ago which came with this 4K head i now have. The work that has been done to it is as follows: -fully race prepet head -3 angel valve job -1mm shaved head -crow cam v8 valve springs -deshrouded portes -ported intake and exhaust So it seems like a solid head, and when i ran it ages ago it was awesome. I just had a quick read over this, looks mean, well done to TOMMYS KE11. I'm not in a HUGE rush to get this engine up and going, but i'm trying to get my research down, before i really start anything (espcially with uni starting next week). Thanks for the help. How much were thes pistons?
