Ok. Well it seems that the turbo setup will no longer be going onto this car. It will be saved for another corolla. Just got the car to my cousins new house just a few hours ago. Stupid thing got stuck on the car trailer lol bit low. We literally had to lift the car a foot of the ground at the front till it rolled backwards haha. Anyways. Popped out both rear windows and took of the rear vents to have a look for the rust situation going on. None under the vents bit under the window sills. Tomorrow will be stripping the car down. Bonnet off, tailgate, doors, lights, interior. And if enough time the driveline also. Will be taking plenty of progress pics as we go along  still got no idea on what colour I want to paint it yet haha. Matt

Any interior pics mate? Would like to see where the shifter is coming through etc? Also how much did you reccess the firewall?
-
I think from memory it's about 60mm taller an rb30 block. I could check if you like? I got two rb30's sitting in the garage lol.
-
Oh well. So therfore I am right in saying that you will travel further for each rotation of the wheel. And little red spirit is right in that it will be slower to accelerate. But if your sticking withing the 15mm overall diameter ruling then I doubt you'd ever notice any difference in driving. I'll be going with either 16's or 17's on my purple wagon. But it will only be because that i will be running bigger brakes to need the bigger brakes.
-
ATM I can't really be bothered thinking to much or looking into it further lol. But from my understanding. If nothing else has changed then your diff will still be turning exactly the same and if your overall diameter of your tyres is larger then you would clearly be travelling a further distance for each rotation of the wheel. This has actually got me very interested. When I can be bothered I'll be looking into and searching as much as I can as this would be handy info to know. But from experiance changing tyre rolling diameter is not really something that you will notice in a normal everyday driven car.
-
Pretty sure he was just pointing out that if 2" bigger is the law then you need to have 15" wheels from factory. Not saying that ke70's came with 15's from factory. In Victoria and act it goes by overall rolling diameter. With no more then 15mm overall difference. For example the 16's I had on my old ke36 were still legal being 205/40/16. From the factory 13's. And on my old white vl I had 20's from the 15's 205/65/15 to 225/30/20. The 20's were actually slightly smaller rolling diameter. Also in a post a few back turning a larger rolling diameter slowing down a car? Lol that's funny. What's actually happening is you would be travelling further for each rotation for the wheel turning. So therfore you would actually be going faster. A smaller overall diameter would mean less distance for each rotation of the wheel resulting in slower. But regardless it's not going to be an amount that you would notice in normall street driving. Tyre sizing plays a major role in drag racing however using the tyre sizing along with diff gears and gear ratios to work out what will work best. With vl's and 3.45:1 diff gears they normally go for it was either a 26x10 or 28x10 on a 15 works ideally different diff gears would use different tyre size. Google miata tyre calculator and the first one to come up is quite good. You put in factory tyre size then new tyre size and it will tell you all the info in the differences from overall diameter to how much you'd be driving sitting on 100 compared to factory size. Matt

the engine for this is now in a vl lol. and his not saying to much about what is being done with the ke20 except that he has some ver very very good news on it lol. -
i use photobucket :laff:
-
Love 3 spokes with dish :laff:
-
i think they were fuel injected from memory, so wouldn't have carbon seals. can anyone confirm?
-
no worry's mate. how much room have you got underneath? can't make the engine mount's smaller to bring it down lower?
-
Just found this as I remembered the xr6 turbo's were somewhere around 13's. So a 13 with a car motor would be pretty awesome. Compared to this guys fg xr6 turbo ute and the cost difference including buying the car. stock FG xr6t ute (K&N filter) made 335hp or 249kw @ wheels and i ran a 13.206 @ 106.88 mph (60'2.106) ZF 6spd....that was my first run and i had ice water rags onthe cooler pipes and air box (was a 40+ degree day the night was very high 20s) @ willowbank (get very hot there)...2nd run heaps better launch i felt it (it really push my gut in (like a AWD evo luanch) and was better (60' 2.067) but the run was only 13.221 @ 106.17 mph so i think the heat got it that time cause i didn't have it on ice for 30mins again...lol i'll go again after i get a CES exhaust and xr8 lower air box and intake to the air box. i also ran it as i would ont eh street with the lux pack 19s and 40psi in them...lol

Ke20 Rb26/30 Tubbed Caged (x My Lil Shiter Thread)

Hey ank. You got anymore done on this yet? Makes me wanna put the rb30 from my vl into my ke36 just about lol -
Same Vein As The Eleanor Cars But Awesome.

They have ruined a fastback by doing this. Not a fan at all. Very much agree with curly on wasting a mustang. -
Nah never had it there. I had it at 200m wilby drags but couldn't get any traction to get a decent time. It's a very slippery track. But the vl might be coping a gtx4202r this time round. I wouldn't expect a stock corolla diff to like a launch on slicks at all lol. Yeah 12's is quick especially when in a manual.
-
Yeah was thinking of going slicks straight up anyways. Maybe later on down the track I might look for a ke1# and go for gold :jamie:
-
Find a 12 from a 3k hard to believe. I'm tempted to try push out a 12 on 98 octane. Then see what happens on c16 and slicks lol. Do 4agte's make much more torque then 5kte's?
-
Wasn't madrolla saying that yours should make more power then his did as your head is ported more? You reckon the old k motors won't get enough torque for a 12 in a ke3#?
-
Yeah on darren's the turbo was mounted on the other side of the engine. Both were also using only a 0.48 rear I believe? And yeah true they do have a fair weight advantage their. Did madrolla ever get around to running his last built motor with the 160 odd kw?
-
Yeah knew his name was Darren. Just couldn't think of his name on here. Only know his name on calaisturbo. So it seems darrens 13.3 is the quickest time so far? What fuel was that on? And that was a manual yeah?
-
I know that's there. But I'm only interested in k powered cars. And I mean worldwide. Not just on rollaclub. Interested to know what has been acheived with k motors before. No matter what car it's in so long as it's powered by a k series engine. I would like to know the quickest down the quarter etcas said in my first post in this thread.
-
Hey everyone. Thought this would be a good topic. I was just wondering what the quickest k powered car is? Also fastest? Quickest in auto? Quickest in manual? Fuel used? Etc. As far as I know the quickest is a 13.3. I'm very interested in this and I'm sure others would be also? Matt
-
Thanks mate :( no pic needed. Going to collect the other few little bits needed while my cousin is trying to find a house. Can't take the car home so can't work on it till my cousin has a place. Planning on doing this k turbo setup with the cooler that I'll use with the bpt setup. So I'm only buying parts once :) even though hopefully the kt setup will end of on a cheap daily when it comes of this wagon  lol. Speaking of which I gotta have a decent look at this other ke36 that I've found cheap
-
yeah just ran a search on good old google as i couldnt think of what they were lol. so i'm guessing that the car should already have one at the coil then in that case?
