  1. to be honest, i think its just normal heat smell from the engine coming into the cabin through the little gromit where the boost gauge hose goes through :jamie:. Hasnt been too bad lately. Hey Lesley! Whats new with the car? is going alright now? Wish you guys lived in melbs, then we could get a good photo of the three :)
  2. haha nice one! yeah i figured that out. worked quite well. i'll just have to get it cut coz its too long and get a 45 degre bend on the end and flare it up so the pod fits on.
  3. haha! damn :jamie: What clutch is in order now? Ceramic, brass button, quad plate!!! LOL How did you run the car with no pipe on the turbo? Isn't there vacuum hoses and what not that connect to the standard snake pipe? I'm making up a PVC cai today as a mock up then take it somewhere to get properly made :) Can you get away with doing these mods and not tuning, or does it somehow have to be tuned?
  4. what bov is it? gfb?
  5. so no point trying to tune it on the dyno then. Just got the cat back on and when you back off the throttle the exhaust pops. Wanted to be able to fix it up once the cai intake is done.
  6. boost holds at 8psi. Doesnt spike are drop off. A dyno tune should be able to fx that problem if you have it. How easy are these cars to get dyno tuned? Can the stock ecu be reflashed?
  7. nah it holds boost quite well. Never seen it spike. Pretty sure it doesnt anyway. I'll test tonight.
  8. i see a bit of your pvc cai :D Does it work well? whats the flutter like....? or does it does now...?? :D
  9. black perspex! cut 2 holes in it for your gauges and you would be sweet
  10. missus just noticed it after she gave the car a abit going up hill. The tends to be a little pool of oil that sits in the mouth of the turbo. Had it checked out and all was fine. maybe its that! Smell is deffinately coming from the turbo area though. I'll take the heat shield of and have a look to see any signs of cracking.
  11. Looks like a lot of work will be going into this. I just hope for 4.5G's your gunna get the right amount of power. Hope my missus car doesnt have to go through this. We just want it to run a little better. Maybe boosting it up isnt a good idea. Wouldnt your manifold crack due to higher boost levels and the standard one can't take it?? btw we been smelling like a faint burning smell when the car gets boosted....any ideas? Still think you should keep the car though. You have been through a lot together and it would be a shame to see you do all this work and then give it away. :P
  12. Ahh so you made a mock up one so someone else can make up the real deal! That would be awesome! will the pod fit in front of the wheel? Doesnt seem to be much room.
  13. yeah thats no bad at all! i wanted to do that in the subie. i think the gauges are too big for the in tray though. How did you get it to work?
  14. Thanks mate. Its nice and tucked away! Doesnt stand out too much. Definately noticed some gains, especially in the throttle response. Spins the wheels quite easy now. Not that I'm trying to ruin my gf's front tyres lol! Mounted the gauge in the drivers side corner of the dash. I bought the gauge second hand and didnt think to ask if it came with the apexi mounting bracket :(. Never the less. I sourced out a Greddy mounting bracket which is the same as the apexi one. Its double sided taped to the window in the corner. I'll get pics tomorrow. It looks really neat and you don't have to bust up your dash or side pillar with screws and what not. Ive seen the pics, but like you said its really hard to see how it has been done. Need like a birds eye view pic :P
  15. just posted a pic of the rear of the car with Exhaust tip! Just decided to go with the twin dump arrangement and it looks the goods i reckon. Doesnt stand out like dogs balls  I can help you out with downpipe! i work at Reece plumbing hehehe! How are you going to make this work? are you going to leave the original setup in and run pipe from the front bumper to the airbox?
  16. hey thanks guys! never really thought about selling the grill, lol! only just took it off! It is the orginal and is in pretty good condition with know dents. Just the paint is coming off and it looked a bit tacky. No harm in re-spraying it though. Pretty easy for your self to do. Make me an offer and i'll consider  Whats wrong with your grill? If you don't have one, id leave it how it is. Makes the front look a lot more agressive. On another note. Got the exhaust done today. They replaced more pipe than i expected. Right up to the first cat. Just got to replace a 40 odd cm section at the front and it will be 2.5" turbo back, as the dump pipe is already 2.5". SOunds good though. Not too loud, just nice. Yeah those rims are awesome! And they suit my rex 100%! I get comments all the time! Have you guys got a pic of your cai intakes? Id really like to see how its done! My performance guru was just going to make up a section of stainless pipe like an S bend and sit the filter under the washer bottle behind the rhs fog light.
  17. except I'm in melbs  So its just gunna be all chat unfortunately! :hmm:
  18. Hey everyone! Here is some pics of my missus AE112R Corolla Turbo!! She doesnt want to do too much to the car, just the usual stuff :hmm: Lowered, Rims, Exhaust, CAI. I, myself, installed an apexi EL2 boost gauge last weekend, which wasnt hard to do until you find the right vacuum hose to tee into! Removed the front grill to expose the cooler a bit more. It looks more aggressive like this >| Catback exhaust is getting done tomorrow  2.5"!!
  19. wow sounds like your experiencing a few problems. Hope mine doesnt get that way.... How much boost you running through that 2560R? You have to show me pics of your cai and how much your getting one made up for.....! I saw in your earlier posts that you bought the car with no bov.... Ours is the same. Do they come out stock with no bov or what.... I wouldnt want one anyway. Once we get the cai its gunna get some good flutter  It already has some good flutter with just a pod. Pitty, toyotas idea of pipework is terrible, so it gets all the hot air from the engine!!
