  1. first of all wow 20psi is huge, secod i have a 5k block with 5k head can you tell me the repercussions of running a 4K-E on the 5K then boosting? is it an option to keep the 5k head and just use the EFI manifold off a 4K-E?
  2. So today my car got really hot when i lifted the bonnet my radiator was almost dry. so i got on my hands and knees to looks for a cracked hose or loose connection etc untill i finnaly checked my oil. which to my dissapointment was milky. so, when i get a new head gasket, i have the next task of checking to see i havent cracked my head :bash: I'm hoping since i don't drive like a retard and look after my engine that my head isnt cracked. however if it is I'm thinking of getting a 4k-e head and manifold, to make my next purchase of a turbo easier to install. good or bad move?..........thoughts? also i plan on getting either two copper head gaskets or preferably a metal. anyone know a good place to look? Cheers Isaac :bash:
  3. in my defence i this was a very quick and rushed effort to very briefly cover some options for turbo k's. i have used the search function but it often doesnt return good results unless the correct key words are used. but anyway it would be great if someone like yourself with experience and photos to go with made a decent thread and pinned it, then we wouldnt have to have so many new threads about turbos. cheers Isaac
  4. not sure what you mean by intrenches comments, I'm not against turbo k's what so ever. i plan to turbo my 5k.
  5. thats the one mitch cheers
  6. So every week i come on the forums and see a differant "how do i turbo my k motor?" and the reply always seems to be "use the search function" however there really are no walkthroughs (bar one, but it isnt very good, and is very negative towards the idea of a turbo K motor. So, here are some quick walkthroughs on turbo setups for K series motors. *All of the following ideas will be costly, and wont result in huge power figures* *The first thing to keep in mind about a turbo is that your K series motor (if stock) will probably not handle any amount of boost you throw at it. your head gasket will be the first to go, to overcome this you can either run 2 copper gaskets or a metal gasket, however then you put strain on your pistons and rods etc, (in short lots of things with have to be replaced on a regular basis unless you put money into the right parts) Onto the setups: 1: The first and most obvious way to turbo a k series is using the conventional method of a turbo forcing boost directly into the pots, then injecting fuel via injectors then igniting, lthe same as the following engines (ie. RB20DET (skylines) CA18DET, SR20DET (silvias) 1JZGTE (cressidas etc) to do this your going to need the following: exhaust manifold that will fit to the dump pipe of your turbo the turbo itself 4K-E inlet manifold with injectors a blowoff valve with boost regulator a wastegate maybe even an intercooler then you need to think about oil lines etc etc. ive never actually seen anyone with this setup, regardless of lots of people on these forums telling me stories. due to the latter i cannot comment on power increase etc. 2: Option two is a "blow through" setup, this is where you set up a turbo as usual however insted of using a fuel injected system you vent the boost to the top of your carby, this can be tricky because often boost is leaked from seals in the carby and conection. its recomended you make an air tight box from steel, or a materiel alike, then house the carby inside, then you can eliminate some of the places that will leak boost. however you can buy an inlet manifold designed specifically for this, i forget the name however. 3: The third option is "suck through". Again same set up as normal however you need to find/make a manifold to link "out" or bottom side of your carby to the intake of the turbo. however you will have to buy a turbo thats capable of passing fuel, i forget which ones can, i think from memory its the ceramic wheel ones. (please correct me if wrong) so from now on, no of us should have to see any more new topics asking how to turbo thier k motor. just ask question in here. ps i can't be arsed proof reading this shit, so expect mistakes.
  7. As we all know Air Dams on KE's are the f@$king shiznit. but can anyone tell me what sort of price I'm looking at for a used (good condition) one? I know of one going for $119 Is that way over priced? it is hand made out of fibre glass. cheers Isaac.
  8. That's pretty much where I've got mine. Give or take a couple of mm. I've just put in my front left door. Starting my drivers door now. It's actually really Easy but doing the alarm system should be a lot harder. Lucky my dads an electrician.
  9. So today I bought a remote central and alarm kit for all 4 doors of my KE30. However they were going cheap at jb hifi so I bought them without checking if they can actully be fitted. Not a massive deal if they can't I can always sell them. Has anyone ever fitted them to a rolla? And any tips etc?
  10. I'm thinking of doing it to the KE30 i buy on thursday. would what you did, with a switch for "on" and another for "start" mean someone could smash the window of your car, and just drive away with it?
  11. Anyone know about rigging electric starts? I couldn't find much searching the forums, but I would assume it just involves removing the "hot" wire from the ignition and running it through a seperate switch. So when the key is in the "on" position the switch can be flicked and the car will start. Anyone done this before or have any corrections for me?
  12. can anyone tell me about turbing a 5K? How hard it is? How much it will set me back? and how easy parts are to get? thanks in advance, Isaac.
