  3. Its turbo time :P Going with the standard exaust manifold as ANGELA in South Aus (220hp out of a 5K Angela) put the turbo on the otherside of the motor and has run a pipe from the standard exaust manifold to the turbo so ive done the same but put the turbo on the same side as the exaust so its a shorter run to the turbo. If my wife doesnt stop me from working on it through the week I may have it going by the weekend :D
  4. heheheheh...my grinder didnt have a problem making the hole wider :) it did loose a bit of strength ,but as the radiator is back a little I'm going to put some angle down each side to fill the gap so I wont loose air going around the radiator it will have to go through it and that will give the strength back.
  5. yeah its a big radiator, but it is only a single row core. the temps stay a little lower then standard around town thanks to thermostat. i did take it for a long drive up hills tonight and the temp would normaly go about halfway but it didnt go over standard temp :). I put in this radiator for when the turbo goes the engine will need better cooling then. Tomorrow ill go get a thermo fan and cable to relocate the battery so i can get some cold air to the air filter.
  6. Just fitted a new radiator VS Commodore...should keep it cool...was a easy job so anyone could do it. just have to mount it a little to the right. The bottom pipe lines up perfect and you just have to make the top pipe a bit longer. so as you can see it will fit.:)
  7. Youll need a air flow meter (AFM) with the setup...I didnt get one with mine...yes it can handle some boost maybe about 3-5 psi but don't quote me on that...the AFM will mesure the air going through and give the right amount of fuel. when going into boost The turbo will suck more air through the AFM and the computer will supply more fuel to a point there will be a limit.
  8. the turbo is a T25 Garrett...i bought it of ebay in very good order for $125 :) MT4 Thats the computer I looked at so add $150 for the handset I think it was about $500 so $650 maybe a little high...you would have to have the book to tell you how to program it....i think i read my book about 20 times before i started to understand the load maps etc. I went for the D5 coz its easy to setup...there is a D3 on there as well i was going to buy but is gone to $100 and its not worth anymore than that as it doesnt have the wiring loom but it doesnt need a handset....shame its not a tassie based club and you all lived here coz i could wire it for you free all you would have to do i supply wire and tape......Its is really very easy.
  9. I can't wait either. Ive got one problem to fix yet...The injectors are way too small. Ive had to wind up the computer almost to max on all fuel adjustments. So I'm on the hunt for bigger that will fit...
  10. I just checked the site...the hand controllers are only avaliable for the new computers... so if the mt4 doesnt have one or and of them your looking at don't buy it....any microtech before the LTxxx are also not laptop programable. YAY i was wrong about the handsets.....I have a mate with a LT8 and printed on his handset is MT series and the whole kit was ordered from microtech.
  11. a microtech MT4 would be great but youll have to get the handset with it..if it doesnt have it you can still buy the handset from microtech but costs about $150. a microtech digi 1 or 2 will also do the job i wouldnt pay more than about $200 if there is no handset. the MT4 will sell aroung $400-$600...lots are for sale without handsets and you wont to be able to program them. http://www.microtechefi.com/
  12. I shouldnt do this but if one of you guys are bidding on this let me know...the ebay user is "Driftrolla" is it any of you? Ill leave it alone if so. I don't really need it but ive started collecting them :)
  13. Here is the pics for the fuel system....And yes its a mess :) also I fitted the electronic dizzy. revs better but didnt really do much. the car is now going and I'm happy with it....till the turbo is fitted. and last one. Ive included the Microtech hand set for programing the fuel injection :o
  14. It goes..Took it for a drive tonight, needs alot of tuning, only problem is its an old microtech and i don't have the book so tuning is all guess work. also had the manifold off again as i had a air leak which was causing all my problems. (idling at 4000 rpm)
  15. nope wasnt hard but its not the first one i have done i had a turbo injected gemini i built before this one setting up the fuel is maybe the hardest part (other than to two middle exaust/inlet manifold bolts) and as i said before check the injector rubbers it has taken me about 10 hours so far to get this far and id say another 10 hours before its back on the road just to clean up everything and make a nice job of it. But if your going to use the standard computer there will be more bits to change. The supercharger is gone manly coz some already offered to buy it. the supercharger is good for making lowdown grunt as you be boosting at idle but it will run out of puff at the top end and you don't get the HIT like a turbo. I did think about twin charge but we are working on a 4k, i didnt think it was really worth it :|
  16. yes the microtech is map.
  17. ill take some pics of the fuel system tomorrow night... Well it runs and its loud as the original exaust manifold was a 3 bolt and this one is a 2 bolt. I think i got ripped on the microtech computer as the fuel pump circut doesnt work. I'm pulling apart the computer right now as see if i can fix it. Also it runs ruff for about 10 seconds then the revs rise to about 4000 rpm.I have to look at the cold idle air controller and any air leaks. also if any one else is going to do the conversion please check and maybe replace the injector rubber seals, because the first time i had fuel going to it I invented automatic high pressure petrol engine cleaning as the fuel pressure blew fuel everywhere.
  18. Hi all Was chatting with teddy lastnight for a very short time he asked how the rolla was going so I'm now going to give a little update Its not going to be supercharged any longer its too hard to tune with a carb blowthrough so i got fuel injection from Nick (and i don't mean myself)Grimwolge. ive also got a t25 and intercooler sitting here that i was going to use for my ET Pulsar but the ET goes good enough as it is. I know turbos better that supercharges and I'm going to use it on the rolla now. The injection turned up today (thanks Nick all seems good) and ive now put it on.i rushed home after work and started as soom as i got into the driveway.worked till it was dark but its not running yet, but will tomorrow. here is a pic of it fitted ill let you all knw when its running.
  19. thats what i was starting to think....
