The yard is open on Saturday mornings for people to buy parts off the cars there or to buy whole cars, but not the ones that Dudley doesn't want you to. So it is a public wrecking yard for 5 hours a week or by special appointment. If anyone theives.....look out, there is no negotiation.
-
Yeah they are crazy cool......love small manufacturers that are part of Australian automotive history, much like the Adelaide built Lightburn Zeta, what I would do for one of those. My late Nanna bought one new! 3 forward gears and 3 reverse gears!!

I don't remember seeing a Lloyd...can you point it out?
-
It's an Isuzu Florian, but yes, it is deceiving nose down in the grass. Apparently there were a few variations of the model from year to year. My mate with the one pictured below was very disappointed when anything he took of this wouldn't fit his. Wish it was a Tatra.
-
Not a Tatra there buddy at all...believe you me, if there was one of those Czechoslovakian, rear engined beauties there, it'd be in my yard regardless of condition!
-
No velvia for me. Nikon D80, Low iso and around f5.6 at 16-20mm. Minor colourisation in shop.........and these are in the most part, the cutting room floor jobs. Yours have come up nicely too though....just buy the damn Publica.....start driving now!! :jamie:
-
Absolutely agree, better to have it in your yard than rotting away....who knows, when you get it on dry land it may not be so bad.....good luck sir!!! Here's a few of my pics also.......

My Dad has been mates with Dud for 50 years and was at his house when the first 'project' arrived in 1956. Yep, we hope that it doesn't go to scrap either, but most likely will although Headley (son) is into it too. And yeah, you are right, it is nothing to waste 5 hours there, at 73, there are alot of merories and stories in his head. I am planning a photographic exhibition most likely next year to ensure the treasures are kept....... in photos at least.

It was still there as of last Friday. Christ there is alot of work there to get it up and running and a heck of alot of fabrication required. Unfortunately, alot of the stuff at Dudley's, though very cool, is unsalvagable. Also, don't expect it for nothing, Dudley doesn't give stuff away...and quite rightly so...if you are fair and reasonable to him, it will be reciprocated. But if you are up for it.....do it.....everytime I go there and just stare at that thing. I have resigned myself to the fact that I don't have the skills, equipment or time to save any of it, so instead, just admire and dream of what could've been. Good luck sir...may the force be with you!! :jamie:

I know, I wasted a 2 weeks of my life there too! Been in Adelaide for 36 years and still discovering the many wonders! -

Says one from the bustling epicentre that is Cairns. :bash: -
New Love Soon - 1959 Mercedes Benz 190 Ponton
ratiara replied to ratiara's topic in Rides - non-Toyota
Unfortunately the previous owner has kept rights to the plate because of family history, plus they would have been stupidly expensive. The rear plate is actually painted on, so I can never paint that boot....ever. -
I haved loved Benz's for as long as I can remember and the opportunity has arisen to pick up a local SA car with a full family history for minimal $$. The cream on the pie is that is the second Merc built in Australia....body no. 002. Paint is rough but only because it has been half rubbed back after a dodgy paint job once upon a time. It has no rust and requires only minimal work to be up and running. Plans are: low, 50's custom style in red oxide and pinstriping and fat white walls.....let's roll.

A couple on the way up to Birdwood for Rock n Roll Rendezvous. My mate Chobis' KE11 and another mates Isuzu Florian going through the tunnels.

Spotted beige KE70 on Brighton rd. about 4.15ish Tuesday arvo. Ihad just picked up my wife from the airport in her Astro Swift.

What sort of gear are you using? Some of your shots look ok. Reckon you need to ramp up your iso a bit in low light.... a bit dark. Gig shots can be tricky, even use a flash on it's lowest setting. I assume you are using a speedlight or similar. It's a tough gig making $$ out of photography, good luck and you are doing the right thing by getting your name out there.....keep at it as I am not confident enough to start making money out of my pics yet, but kudos to you. As an example, these are two of my favourite gig shots....iso 800, f5.6. Nikon D80, 200mm Lens. Cheers, D

One word....RAD!!

My comment....looks tidy as, especially for a daily. But I do have to say that the term 'minta' or 'overrated' is used waaaayyyyy too loosely these days. A overrated car is perfection, which this is not....not criticism but this is a very tidy car, but unfortunately not 'overrated'.

Actually doesn't look too bad....How have you gone with insurance though? I just hope you don't ever hit a Bentley and don't get cover. Just happenned to a mate thats all, hit a brand new Merc and had $30k of debt for repairs over his head all because of his 16's on a Gemini. Looks good though.

Yep, been and gone. Great day as usual....here's some of my pics. And couldn't pass up a great sunset on the way home...... -
Sweet looking VE....awesome. Also, 4 cars and a bike is not too many....you're just getting started. We have 5 and a scooter and always looking at what else is around. :bash:
-
Wow...that is minty fresh! Insanely low km's and it shows. I'd be too scared to drive it! I reckon I'd wrap it up and unwrap it on my birthday.....look at it, rub myself on it then wrap it up again. But that's just me because I am wierd. Rad car man.....rad car!

Other Rides - 1963 Chevrolet Corvair And 1969 Bmw 2002

The old girl needed more attention than I was able to give her.....she needed alot of rust work. More than my limited skills would be able to tackle. She was a beauty though and it is great to know that she is back on the road again....the new owner has done more in 6 months than I did in 2 years. :D -
We'll be there with our 1969 BMW 2002. This is one of my fave shows of the year!
