lol he did't get the part where I told him to get a new car  What I meant with the suspention is you need fairly stiff springs to accommodate the low stance of the car. If you have springs that are too soft you will scrape on turns and bumps because the car itself is bouncing up and down too far. Guard rolling will not solely fix that problem. The lower the car goes the less suspension travel you have to play with. Do you understand what I'm getting at? The spring does not even fully compress before your body slams onto your tyres. Don't worry about having a lack of a knowledge base on engines, suspension we all started off in the darkness. I have only recently been able to squint and see a light off in the distance. I've been at it for well over a year now.

Hi, as a fellow AE82 owner I could help you out  Firstly, for more power you would want to jack up the car, take the wheels off and put another car on those wheels...... Come on dude you have already spent 3.5k on the car get a 4AGE for it. If you don't want to swap the motor you might as well do the above. You could give the 4ac a bit of poke with a more aggressive camshaft and a webber carby but for the price of it all you could stick a 4age in for the same price. For your suspension what are your current spring rates??? They may be too soft for the height. $550 for guard rolling?????? Dude that is a rip off. You should only be paying a max of $200. For more info specifically for the AE82 go to www.ae82.net Welcome to the club!

TW Engineering Uint D/ 140 Tolley Rd St Agnes SA 5097 (08) 8263 6311 Just got the head done. All the valves and valve seats re-faced and the block re-faced all for $100! Top notch work and some really friendly people. Will be going back there.

Thumbs up to TW Engineering! $100 to get the valves re-seated and head re-faced.

Ok lesson learned. The carbon on tha valve seats and valves themselves were actually sealing the engine, however they did it badly. Then when I cleaned it off even lapping was not enough to get a proper seal. I put it all back together again and started the engine. Rough idle and black smoke pouring out the back on throttle and just really smoggy at idle. Checked the timing and all and that was fine. The carby wouldn't run rich would it????? I didn't change anything apart from a good clean with carby cleaner in and around. So I rang TW Engineering and got a quote at $8 per valve and something that I can't remember per valve seat at a total cost of about $130ish. Would have been far less hassle if I gave it to them in the first place..... But we learn from our mistakes and best of all I can now rip apart the head and put it all back together again no hassle!

Progress on the Quads. I have cut up a donor manifold as the face for the new manifold. Welded on with blu-tac Partially lined up More to be done...

Thought I'd start a thread for the beast now that it is starting to gain momentum. Picked her up a few months back and have been fixing it ever since Hence the name moocher.... Cause she definately does not pay the bills.... When I initially got her she was running ok but started to wear out over time. Almost like it had a cosmetic makeover before I bought her Seems as though it has had a 3kbp head slaped on and very poorly bolted on manofolds that did not suit... I found out that the bolts that were used bottomed out before they even tensioned the manifold. So basically done so far is: Changed fluids Spark plugs Ignition leads Points Rotor cap Coil Timing adjust Head pulled apart and cleaned up Non existing valve stem seals replaced with 4k-c ones Valves laped in Gasket kit to reseal engine Ke35 chrome bumpers Ke35 front grille (yet to be put on) Jelly bean mags Wash Vacuum Kick the tyre when I get bored...... New boot lid to replace dented one New front right 1/4 panel Paint to spray said panels Current Tasks: Adapt quad carbies Weld up a new exhaust manifold

Engine Parts And Upgrades In Adelaide???
Twinky replied to vykm90's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Well you've hit the nail on the head. $1000 - $2000 is plenty enough to build your motor up if you do alot of work yourself. Taking things apart and putting them back together is the easy bit and anyone can do it if they just do a little research. I myself have stuff-all mechanical knowledge but I have pulled apart the head and cleaned it up, done an engine conversion, suspension setup, light engine tune, clutch and am now attempting to adapt quad carbies to the 4k head. Once you start you will find out it is really easy to get going. Read as many books as you want but once you start physically start doing it you will learn quicker. My advise, try to find an engine manual for the 4k and it will help you greatly. So yeah you definately have enough dosh for parts just try to do as mutch as you can yourself and you will save mega $$. -
Shal soon beat it anyway :blinks:

Engine Parts And Upgrades In Adelaide???
Twinky replied to vykm90's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Those two statements do not match... If you want to take the engine to a shop just to get it running right it is going to cost you a bunch with labour. Then that part of faster and more powerful will cost you about $400 to buy and pay for fitting of a lumpy camshaft not including tuning. Labour cost is the biggest killer of the wallet. learn to mod an engine yourself and you will save big$$ that you can spend on more goodies. To build a tough K motor follow this link http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...a_tough_K_motor Firstly you should make a budget and find out how mutch you want to spend on this thing. Then make mods to your needs. -
Only the fact he has two posts and a link to a site to starlet vids. I'm a bit cautious by nature and didn't want to find out if you get a brilliant virus by going to the site. If it is to be legit then my apologies. :blinks:

Public schooling is a failure. I went to private schooling during my first few years of school (grade 1 - 5). Then we moved house and I was forced to go to public schools. The very first thing I noticed was the level of education which was very low. I was doing things in grade 6 that I had already covered in grade 3 at the private school. On top of that I was forced to write in block lettering when I was already fluent in cursive. What really angers me is that they dumb down the curriculum just so they can say "oh look our pupils are really smart" when in fact they are only teaching BASIC mathematics at grade 7. Then on top of that they are now complaining about the national testing because the results will really show why the teachers do not deserve a pay raise. I have heard that the teachers are encouraging the learning impaired students to skip school on the test dates so that they do not drag down the final results. f@$king stupid. Feel free to scour through my post on how the top notch curriculum failed to teach me proper sentence construction. My biggest fear is the next generation that shows no respect to anyone and have intelligence lower than that of a goldfish, complainig that their dole payments are too low and all the foreigners are taking their jobs that they never bother applying for. /end rant/

Looks like someone else is going to have to save it..... The missus says two cars is enough as well as working on the father in laws Truimph.... Pffft what would she know?? :hmm: Mybe if it is still there in a few years time...
-
Hah! you are not the only one who can play with velvia! But my camera is shit  My missus has spruced them up for me :jamie:
-
Ah ok so just a slight angle like say 20 degrees?
-
My carbs are the horizontal mounting type, there are very similar ones with a 45 degree float bowl.
-
cool, cheers for that. Now I just have to jimmy up something so that I can attach a cable type choke.
-
Would I just leave them venting/charcol canister or attatch them to something else?
-
And just think..... Thats only a small portion of what is out there.....
-
Yes they are infact mikuni's but they are from an Kawasaki GPZ 750. Diaphragm type slides. Oh and you might be able to help me out, the fuel rail in the middle of the carbies supplies the fuel right? but there are another two connection points inbetween the outer two carbies, are they for fuel return or more fuel input? you can see them quite clearly in the pic, the centre connection is the metal one and the outer two are black plastic (sitting a bit higher up).

Oh and dam you take some good snaps ratiara.

We don't like to generally disclose the site to public because dudley has a problem with theft. As there are some rarities people like to hop the fence and help themselves. The only reason I was allowed into the yard was because my friend knows dudley well enough. I think he does let people in normally but only early in the morning on the weekend. If ratiara says so he may disclose the location, I'll leave it to him as he seems to know the place a lot better than me. Preferably by pm.
