  2. Awww yes, I do remember this car as it did catch my attention with that heading. May I ask what are you going to do with the rose joints, because when I get my car on the road I will be drawing up on CAD some plans to make a set of Caltracs’ to help control axel trap.
  3. Awww ok , here I was thinking it was a $20 fish tank pump from a Chinese junk shop and it sounds like you have a few safety measures in place. So how did you do yesterday with the tune? …. You know everyone wants to see a dyno chart or a little video
  4. I will keep a look out for it
  5. Hey I did get a bit of a laugh when the penny finally dropped and people finally clued onto that I was building a 7AGTE, but then I never did say what I was building. Thanks for the link but I got the W58 with the electronic speedo sender. Well I hoping to have this thing on the road within the next 3 months just have little bits and pieces to finish off but these are the most time consuming and I am fussy with this build/engine. Will get some more pictures up soon, putting all of the interior back in.
  6. I do not understand using a fish tank pump when it looks like you have put some good quality equipment on your car. I just hope this does not fail on you, if it was my car I would have bought a bosch water pump like they use on the water to air intercoolers. Hope all went well on the 15th All the best with your build.
  7. Here’s a better idea, “do an update”.
  8. I do not know anything about “K” motors / heads, but from what I have read he is planning to use a “5K” head. So what I am asking is there any difference between the 3K and 5K head?
  9. All the best for tomorrow, I will come down for a look and come and say Gday
  10. Yep, That is exactly what i have done with this 7A Hybrid combo. Have you started to build one or are you planning on building one. If you need to know anything have a read over my thread or if it is not clear, just ask and i will point you in the right direction. All the best
  11. Hi there, The timing belt covers are a combination of “16V” and “20V”. As you can see in the photo’s I have used 2 “16V” middle sections and cut one to be the same profile and just glued it on to the middle section. This little section is 15mm which is the different in height between the 4A block to the 7A block. If you need to know more, just ask.
  12. I read with interest, and I wish you all the best with your engine build
  13. Any news on the diff ?
  14. Even with a trade price that 50mm cable is not cheap.
  15. Finished off all of the wiring over the last couple of weeks with the last of it being the wires that run from the battery in the boot. The battery wires are 50mm² which are huge. They run through the car, coming out through the firewall into the engine bay. The list to do is getting smaller and smaller, the next thing to do is the intercooler and piping and the oil cooler.
  16. I would go and see a power steering place and have a talk to them about the problem. All the best
  17. I used Otomoto camber top kit (and a coil over kit) and I have no issues with camber what so ever.
  18. I had some aluminium sheet that I cut to make a 70mm diameter tube/pipe once it was rolled. I made the pipe length longer then I needed. Pictures in the making The finished tube/pipe all polished up with a side piece for the blow off valve
  19. Good to see some more updates …. I really hate doing wiring as I am very fussy with how it all looks. I have finished all of my "in car" wiring just need to finish off some wiring under the bonnet. Looking good by the way
  20. Been looking all week and do you think I could find any 70mm diameter aluminium tube anywhere......... Noooo Need some to start making the intercooler piping ! Looks like I will have to make one
  21. Like Trev said… Know what you want to build before you start to build. Do a heap of research as different heads on the 7A block require different timing belts, if I remember correctly (don’t quote me) I think the Silver top on a 7A block needs a timing belt that has an extra tooth in the timing belt where as a Blacktop head on a 7A block will use a 4AGE timing belt. There is a lot of fabrication work needed to be done as that 15mm in block height will effect a lot of bolt on’s. If you are handy on a spanner and/or can fabricate this will help on saving the dollars. Best advice to you is to know what you want and build your motor to what you intend it to be, Now I have built mine with a healthy compression ratio and it’s turboed with big cams, forged internals, fully balanced and lots of head work and controlled with an aftermarket ECU. I’m not after a dyno queen (big horse power) … I want something responsive and quick All the best in your build
  22. I hate uploading photos, it’s so much mucking around… Hit the cam covers with some paint stripper and then a little bit of polishing. Before After What it looked like in the car Before After, but this time with an aluminium valley cover Before After, but this time with an aluminium valley cover I did not get a lot of pictures of making the aluminium valley cover I thought about buying one of the Carbon fibre things that do not fit properly, and I think a plastic look would not look right on a vehicle of this age (and I like shiny things) :)
  23. It’s been a little while between updates …. I have been sorting out the radiator. I wanted a bigger then standard radiator so the only way it was going to happen was to do some slight modification to the radiator support. The below pictures shows where I was going to make for a bigger radiator (see the white line as a guide line ~ being equal distance from the centre of the car) The result After contacting PWR about core thicknesses, I made up a dummy radiator (out of timber full size) to see if it will fit with the engine/engine bay. It all measured up how I planned so I placed an order to have a new twin core radiator made up to my specifications and about 3 weeks later it arrived. Dummy radiator and the new radiator All fitted up with new radiator supports welded in. Just another random picture I found ….. its been too long since its been under its own power.
  24. Wow … have I missed something here with a comment like that? (and you seem to have a good reputation). Yeah it’s a KE70 (so what), at the end of the day we are all here because of our Corolla’s. To me he is asking for advice on “how to” and to his credit he has given it a go and by reading this thread he seems take pride in his ride. There has been some very helpful advice given and well done to the people that have put some time into their write ups, trying to point him in the right direction. Maybe I have missed something
  25. There could be a number of things that are going wrong I would firstly check all of the vacuum hoses and the ICV = Idle Control Valve (these can become clogged and need cleaning out. You are also are correct in saying that the ECU may/could be at fault, with leaking capacitors, (and if it has leaked over the ECU board then the whole board is stuffed) after all these ECU’s are between 14 to 16 years old now.
