-
it has a new belt il hsve to get a new waterpump pulley.

i have a similar problem on my ke70 5k but mine happens when i change down gears, it slips as the motor is reving up (changing down gears to stop). i think i can hear it when the motor is reving hard but my exhaust is loud ;). i have tightened the belt that much that there is almost no deflection in the belt but it still does it.... i was thinking of making up and idler pulley to wrap the belt around the pulley abit more maybe that may help... or if anyone has a idea would be appreciated.

Ke70/ae71/te72/ae86 Similarities & Differences

Front Springs KE70/AE71 - 70212 (Lowered) TE72 - Not listed AE86 - 71713 (Lowered) KING SPRINGS Front Springs KE70/AE71 - KTFS-29 (Standard Height) KE70/AE71 - KFRL-16 (Lowered) - Progressive Rate Design KE70/AE71 - KTFS-33 (Standard Height) - Use if inside diameter of original lower coil mount is reduced KE70/AE71 - KTFL-33 (Lowered) - Use if inside diameter of original lower coil mount is reduced TE72 (79-7/81) - KTFS-16 (Standard Height) TE72 (79-7/81) - KTFL-16 (Lowered) TE72 (8/81-83) - KTFS-16A (Standard Height) TE72 (8/81-83) - KTFL-16A (Lowered) AE86 - KTFS-33 (Standard Height) AE86 - KTFL-33 (Lowered) so will ae86 front springs fit a ke70 the part numbers are different but does anyone kno if they will fit? thanks matt -
So in light of all that, is that why lowered cars with non adjustable panhard rods like to spin/flick out of control in the rear end? Cause the diff is no longer in the centre of the car?
-
hey guys i was looking around and i seen that they said its nessasary to have a adjustable panhard rod, can anyone tell me why this is so? as i have lowerd my ke70 and i cannot find any info on this. thanks matt
-
nah ages ago but i have been moving my house in the boot of the car so yea that could be a good start, ill check that next time i get in the car.
-
hey guys i started my ke70 up on the way to work and i noticed that the fuse for the gauges had stopped working so i bought some more cause i didnt have any, put it in the correct spot and it worked, anyway the next time i went to go out again it did it again. it seems like it happens everytime i start the car. i have checked the wires and they seem all good but i dunno what it could be. any ideas? oh the dash cluster has a clock, not the tacho. cheers matt

i did the conversion cause I wanted to, solids seemed easier, I put this info up so it would help people that where thinking of doing the conversion not to be told that it's a silly mistake,
-
hey guys just recently done a 5k solids conversion in my ke70, the work I have done to the motor includes: decked head 3 angle valve regrinde new valves new valve seals I also got the block decked bored out .0020 thou new piston and rings to suit mild street cam crank grind new seals and gaskets new timing chain and sprockets and I used 5k hydraulic lifters and gutted them out and used them as cam followers, then I used 4k pushrods of length about 186 total length with 4k adjustable rockers and it runs so good no rattle from rockers, all machining of these parts where done by rose engine reconditions at browns plains, I fitter everything myself and installed the engine myself with help from my brothers I thought I would put it up on how I did It to show you guys on what I used and did, any questions just ask. thanks matt
-
I called the cam place and they said it was machined for solid litters so I'm guessing I will have to do what Felix did with his 5k
-
it's a d dished 5k it's a 4k head with alot if dish in the chamber not sure what type of motor its off. not sure what litters to use that's why I asked, but I got both 5 and 4k adjustable and solid rockers also not sure which to use,
-
hey guys ive read this a few times now but yea just getting a specific answer. ive got a 5k block with a 4k head the 5k block has got oversized pistons and a re ground mild street cam, the question is, would it be easier to convert to solids using the idea that felix did or use hydros with the 4k rocker gear thats in the head already, cause after reading this i don't see the point in changing to solids, the fact that I'm not gonna go over 7000rpm anyway but if its the easiest way with the combination that ive got i will go that way. ive got the stuff for the solids besides the 3k pushrods but have numerous 4k and 5k pushrods, the reason i wanna go solids is cause you can adjust the rockers, but i havent done hydros before so i wouldnt kno how to do it, what do you guys reckon cheers matt

hey guys i got a 3s engine in my garage that my bro got off a mate for free and i was wondering has anyone put these in a ke70 or is it the wrong type of motor? i couldnt find anything through the search option maybe i wasnt typing in the right stuff. its got all the wiring and computer and stuff, i kno its out of a front wheel drive but thats not hard to change. so yea any ideas if it would be a good engine to use?
-
well I have to hand it over to someone to bore it out. Cause I don't have he equiptment to do so. Plus my uncles mate does all that stuff and my uncles a mechanic so I should be able to get it done pretty cheap. Is there any specific parts I should get balanced and machined while it's all apart getting worked?? I've read other forums and they said it's best to send the crank fly wheel and all moving parts with the block to get balanced together. Cheers matt

Hey guys about what kms should I be refreshing my 4k it's done about 242,000kms should I be looking at freshing it up. I haven't driven or been in other ke's so I wouldn't kno what sorta pull/power they get out of them. And what should I be looking at doing bearings and seals?? Or should I leave it until I work the 5k that I got in the shed and put that in when it's done. I bought a 5k of this guy and it cam with comlete rebiuld kit ( 20 or 40 thou oversized acl pistons, rings, seals gaskets the lot except bearings) any ideas would be helpful cheers matt
-
Hey mate I haven't done had much experience with dashs but would you have to wire in the tacho?? Like what I mean is would you have to run new wires and stuff??
-
and yes I run coolant I'm not a dumb arse ahaha what trade school you go to??
-
I'm not to worried about it I was just curious to where yours all sat. But yea I guess it wouldn't hurt grabbing a second temp gauge as you said. Cause my ke is running a solid fan should I think about getting a thermo fan?? Like when I sit on 100kms it starts to creep up but that's only cause it's constantly reving. But true it does depend on the ambient temp as well. But thanks for the info guys great help cheers matt
-
so your saying its best to buy an aftermarket temp gauge?
-
hey guys where abouts does your temp guage sit at when you drive? is it abnormal for it to sit about half way on the temp gauge? cheers matt
-
so whats the best to use for the front springs? should get specific springs for ke70 or should i get what ever springs you suggest?
-
hey guys my names matt, i am an apprentice fitter and turner almost 3rd year i am from brownplains i drive a red ke70 that has a 4k with 5speed manual. that there is my beast i bought it for 800$$ and i have replace the head, rear shocks and springs and doing rust repairs
-
hey guys this is my 82 flat front ke70 that i bought for $810 from a guy in coloundra, it has a standard 4k block and head with a 5 speed manual box. i have now done rust repairs on the doors and boot where the major rust was, still a i little bit left and should be all good then. it has low kings in the back with matching shocks, but standard in the front for now yet to buy some. my plans for this car is to completely strip it down and repair everything and spray the whole car, and to put a worked 5k with 4k head. these are the rims that i got with the car, complete set. they where a bit crappy where the crome was so i polished them up, then i still wasnt happy so i bought some black spray paint and masking tape. this is the rim all masked up and first coat of paint. and this is the finished product with the rims back on the car and looking good. attached are some full body shots with the rims.
