  3. so in the last few months my ride has changed from sitting with the 4age t50 stuff to sitting with a new powerplant consisting of a Ca18det. Once i collected all the necessary parts i thought i would need including aftermarket turbo man, 3'' dump pipe intercooler+piping, jointers and gauges it was off to the Toyota Hospital that is Tama Autos. It started buy ripping out the 4age and t50 and other bits. tried doing the bolt onto stock crossmember trick and it worked but with a good 65mm between sump and actual crossmember so the crossmember mounts came off and custom ones were made upto sit low and back. Next thing was shifter position ending up right on a support looking bar, so after some internet searching this could be fixed by using the ca bell and a rb rear casing bolted together but there was no proof that i could find, so i tried it and it payed off. using a gearbox from a r33 skyline and shifter was an extra 75mm foward compared to the ca gearbox. + i could use handbrake in 2nd. Went smooth sailing from there on doing wiring, driveshaft and trying to do intercooler + piping while keeping bumper and chin lip looking stock. Then exhaust. All running now all i need to do is go get a tune.
  4. i had the same problem on my car. done what this said http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=9628 and hey presto now i can park on a hill.
  5. goes sweet as mate. when the lightned flywheel went in it made a massive difference in power and adjusties well worth doing.
  6. About time I posted up my project daily dx. Picked up back in 2002 with no rego no warent and in need of a good spruce up. It had already been started of with a Calipso Blue paint job. Well 1st of all we needed to fix the wiring which was a mess and sort out brakes with some pads. After having the car road worthy with a fresh warrent and rego i decided to sort out the height and installed some dobi lowering springs and new shocks all round. But there was something lacking.... grunt, power, balls. After stuffing round with twin carbs to no sucsess and wasted money decided to go for the popular 4age conversion. 6 months later i had sussed out all the main parts for the basic conversion and it was off to the Toyota Hospital, Tama Autos. 2 weeks later I had the mean grin as Reo handed back my keys. Next step was to try get a warrent but that was a no go, so now needing a cert I went to Freelance Automotive to put it through its paces. Bit of work later a new black plate got rivited in engine bay. A few months down the track i figured that sideways action was not gonna happen with the k series diff so I managed to get ahold of a T50 gearbox and ae86 diskbrake diff. Trademe also came through with the goods with an ae70 pedalbox and 2 piece driveshaft. Now i had the goods a had to use them so what else should i do but sign up for the famous Joe Manji drift days. 3 of these manji days later i had to things (al least) needed to be done, better suspention and new engine mounts. hmm well that cut the day short. Soon after that good old Keisuke from (86fighters.wordpress.com) hooked me up with jic ae86 coilovers with camber plates and ncrca's and later got some BC rear pearches with some TRD Blue adjustable shocks . Also got some rust work done and guards smashed out (thanks to reo) lucky cause it would of been a tight fit with the ncrca's. Also put some 25mm spacers on the rear to see. Looked good. Got car back from the painters with a fresh paint to cover up those guards and get those nasty dings out, looks sweet merry xmas 09 to me. Also got a tint job to replace the homejob style. as it sits now: 4age bluetop conversion custom mounts 3.7 jun lightned flywheel 3 puc clutch ae86 front adjusties with camber plates 10kg springs Revolver ncrca"s BC Rear pearches with TRD Blue shocks T50 Gearbox Ae86 disc brake diff TRD 2 way LSD Whiteline adjustable panhard rod 14x7 rays mesh but for how long!!!!
  7. hey dude love the project, just a quick question about your engine mounts. did you fit engine in then weld mounts in the desired location to keep mounts solid in one position? also.... do you know how tall the mounts are? 35,40,55mm cheers
