Tally Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Hey My KE25 project has come to a halt today. The engine I got out of an early 72 KE20. I chucked the engine in my KE25 today to find out that it does not fit the KE25 4speed. The bolt spaces are different and don't line up at all. I still have the KE20 gearbox. Would that be the soloution? Would I need to change anything else? eg tailshaft? Link to my thread: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=14164 Cheers Tally Quote
irokin Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Is this what you're talking about? One of the bigger problems is bolts. The left hand side base bolt needs to be longer and a pin below and further above the starter motor (^^red circles^^) exists on the KE70 gearbox but not the 3K motor. This may just be a 3K-4K thing. Also I didn't notice until we had the gearbox on the engine ready for bolting up that one of the bolts on the right hand side (when looking at the box from the back) doesn't quite match up. Its OK though as there are enough of the other bolts to hold it there. If you did the 4K conversion then there wouldn't be any bolt problems I'm surprised you're having issues. I put a KE70 K50 in my KE20 with very little drama. http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...s/K50_into_KE20 Quote

Raven Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Did you align the clutch before you attempted to slot the motor in? I find the easiest way is to pull the gearbox and motor out as one unit, bolt the gearbox onto the new motor and slot it back in as one unit again. Definitely mis-aligned though. :) Quote
Tally Posted November 4, 2007 Author Report Posted November 4, 2007 Hehehe thanks Raven Yea simple mistake/judgment... CHeers guys for the help Tally Quote
cuzzo Posted November 4, 2007 Report Posted November 4, 2007 Does the ke25 bellhousing fit the ke20 engine firstly? secondly align the clutch with a broom handle, or the proper way with a clutch alignment tool. Bolt her up. :) Good luck! Quote
