aidaniel[RL] Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 i was just wondering what sort of figures you get out of your corollas as mine seems kinda rich i have a ke30 with a stock 4k except for the extractors. i fill the 45L tank up and i will be lucky to get maybe 350km's out of it but i normally get about 300. this means i am averaging about 4 days out of a tank of fuel which sucks atm with the fuel prices and all Quote
kangaroosa Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 I emptied 1/3 of a tank during a 45min drive to the airport, when i was running late for a flight on Tuesday morning. Never actually done a test with my twins on, but I am 100% positive that i get more than 350kms. Quote
aidaniel[RL] Posted May 26, 2007 Author Report Posted May 26, 2007 well i do work for dominos and in a 2 hour shift i will go through almost a 1/3 of a tank but i average about 80km's a day Quote
Trev Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 550+ Km's from 50L's of stop/start driving in a AE82 seca with a bigport 4age. Quote
Jono Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 mine sucks with a 4age in a ke20 but i have no O2 sensor. i hope to get one soon and improve the mpg as the fuel prices suck the bag. ball bag that is... anyone keen to meet up with Georgey with a bullet? Quote
aidaniel[RL] Posted May 26, 2007 Author Report Posted May 26, 2007 can any one suggest why mine sucks so muck fuel then? as its starting to hurt the back pocket Quote
SoulSearcher Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 hey, I did a fuel test in one of my other cars, using standard unleaded I got roughly 350 using premium unleaded I got 412klms so I switched over to premium and I'm getting about 400-415 from a full tank (in a 2.4lt DOHC 97 Automatic Bluebird, about a 50 lt tank, which is in bad need of a service). In my Sportivo I get about 400 on PULP but I drive like a maniac :D Lesley :) Quote
aidaniel[RL] Posted May 26, 2007 Author Report Posted May 26, 2007 premium fuel cost about 15-20 cents more so and with current fuel consumption i will end up costing more Quote

aidaniel[RL] Posted May 26, 2007 Author Report Posted May 26, 2007 thanks for the ... er ... description of what petrol is. Quote
slapper Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 In addition to other replies: I get roughly 8 litres per 100 km out of a stock 4K with extractors in a KE25 - both with stock carb and with the weber (32 DIR downdraft). Are you running overly rich (exhaust pipe too black, sooty tail lights)? If so, make sure your air filter isn't too dirty. cheers, Slapper Quote

MRMOPARMAN Posted May 26, 2007 Report Posted May 26, 2007 with a stock 3k toyoglide ke25 last tank i got 6.9l/100km.. and that was flat knacker all the way. yours works out to 12.8l/100km which is highly abnormal. i found i increased my range by near on 140km to a tank by a proper tune and running 98 octane unleaded. what condition is your engine in? old clapped out engines rarely get good economy. how about tuning? the extractors should cause your engine to lean out slightly. have you checked all the servicable items on the car? the plugs, air cleaner, fuel filter, points and condensor, valve clearance etc? are the plugs black and carbony, or white and powdery, or maybe a nice light brown tinge? also does your dissy have an adjustable advance screw like earlier models? aidaniel[RL] Posted May 27, 2007 Author Report Posted May 27, 2007 well my exaust pipe is really sooty and i don't know about the screw thingo ... but i leaned it up a bit this morn and also re did the timing, i also have a problem with the idle speed ...i can't get it to run lower then 950-1000 rpm without stalling and the timing is supposed to be done at 750-800 rpm with a stock 3k toyoglide ke25 last tank i got 6.9l/100km.. and that was flat knacker all the way. yours works out to 12.8l/100km which is highly abnormal.i found i increased my range by near on 140km to a tank by a proper tune and running 98 octane unleaded. what condition is your engine in? old clapped out engines rarely get good economy. how about tuning? the extractors should cause your engine to lean out slightly. have you checked all the servicable items on the car? the plugs, air cleaner, fuel filter, points and condensor, valve clearance etc? are the plugs black and carbony, or white and powdery, or maybe a nice light brown tinge? also does your dissy have an adjustable advance screw like earlier models?
