Hey, well its been some time since my last update and well... I haven't done much. I've been busy with work working nights then infected with Glandular Fever. So today I dragged my arse outside and did something I've been wanting to do for some time.

So we've seen my addaption of the KE70 Handbrake console in a KE30.

Next, if i want to charge my phone, it has to hang all the way down to gearshift colsole.

So here's the plan. I'm going to install a standard Cig lighter port into the back of my KE70 handbrake console. Luckily this one doesn't have the ash tray located on the back.

And here's the lighter. The lighter will need to be inverted and have a portion of the brass tube cut off, about half.

Here's the console with the hole cut in it.

Now with the cut & inverted lighter port installed

Here's the underside showing the wiring that will be extended and connected to the other lighter.

Lastly the Console back in the car. This way I can plug my phone in and rest it inside the console or something. :n:

What does everyone think??

I think I've also figured out how to install a trip meter into the KE55 dash. I pulled appart a KE35 trip meter speedo cluster and realised that it'll have to be from a KE70...

Updates soon.

Alittle off center but okay. Its the practice one for the hardtop. Seems everything i'm fitting to my 30 comes from a KE70.

Next, the trip meter.

Hey Jon, that Rolla is lookin slick as man, good work on it! Hope mine can look nearly as sweet as that.

Couple questions, which are the best wreckers and other shops to go to for KE30 parts, or parts that would fit a KE30? Also, my dad wants me out of my baby and into a newer car (not brand new, just newer than 32 years old haha). I believe my car is currently not roadworthy, far from it actually. Do you reckon I should get this car looking schmick and roadworthy, or go for another car. Keeping in mind I've just started my apprenticeship, meaning I'm pretty much always broke.

Thanks.

I have a feeling that I saw you once and from my memory from behind the car was looking pretty bad?? If the car is as bad as I think you may want to think about re-shelling it. Find yourself another KE30 or even KE55 that isn't that bad. There are a few good ones on Ebay for cheap from time to time.

Panel House at Slacks Creek can get you brand new Quarter Gaurds at a reasonable price While RareSpares have brand new KE30/KE55 bonnets and Chrome Strips. Clark Rubber can get most of the rubber what RareSpares can get you as well as the Rust Repair Sections for the quarter gaurds. They get their stuff through a place called Spectrum Rubber and Panel.

A good wrecker is Kelly's at Castledine, tho they are abit expensive, they have around 15 KE3X/KE55's, and Wacol Self Serve Wreckers is nice and cheap when they have KE30/KE55's in stock. Park Ridge was another good one once. Since then they've crushed all their older stock. You may see a KE55 every now and again tho I think they are trying to get into the newer stuff.

Start a Project Thread for this car and post up some pics so taht we can see and give you some proper advice.

Okay its been a while since my last update.

Last night when I came home from work my car was making a strange sound and as i got up this morning and was going to my car I had issues starting it. So knowing my alternator was going I booked it in with my auto electrician. And since my Auto Electrician is next to my Auto Upholsterer, i had my seats altered so they would have pockets behind them.

PHOTO TIME...

Seats. Had white stitching done as I don't have time for brown stitching to fade.

I've been replacing all my lights with super white LED bulbs.

And something everyone kept reminding me of and something I'd neglected for months, the missing bolt from my numberplate replaced my by auto electrician. :locked:

So... I've been in lighting mood lately.

Here are the pics of what i've done/will be doing!!

More Xenon headlights. I tried having them installed the other day, turns out they aren't a straight fit. So i've had to modify some standard H4 Bulbs to make them fit. I've miss placed the bracket, I'll post up a pic of what i'm talking about.

I've replaced the standard LED bulbs inside the speedo with Super White LED's.

Lastly, I had a Toyota interior light installed in my boot. Then I installed a LED strip inside it replacing the original bulb and making it match the one inside the cab.

Just remember John NEVER touch the glass of the blub when installing it. The oils in your skin will make a hot spot on the bulb and they will fail where you touch it. So be careful.

Also the kit you got for the HID lights did you buy a H4 bulb one? I am looking into an Ebay kit to get for the KE15 once it is on the road and am interested in this info if the bulb isnt a direct fit.

Cheers

Apparently it is a H4 kit but according to my auto electrician it isn't. They'll be in in a week or so when I get paid next.

This month is Lolla's 29th birthday :P and she's been in my possession for two years now. So I decided to mark the occasion by installing a 5K. Lolla now is a 1.5 and is the first of three to have her implants.

Here are the photos of the day...

Lolla waiting eagerly for her surgery.

The 5K in question that is currently in my car.

One last look at the engine bay before we pull it apart.

Just a shot of Lolla parked in the jungle of Trev's long grass.

4K almost ready to come out.

post-1158-1190589290_thumb.jpg

4K coming out. I was even able to ride it out as we needed to push the box down :no2:

post-1158-1190589349_thumb.jpg

Engine finally out. Only been two years since this bay was empty last.

Des, the late comer, having one thing to say.

post-1158-1190589405_thumb.jpg

Trev saying the same thing.

post-1158-1190589423_thumb.jpg

Engine finally going in.

post-1158-1190589443_thumb.jpg

I stopped taking photos from here, i was getting too dirty for my phone. My hands were amazingly black. The current engine bay shot looks pretty much like it did beforehand, except for the fact that the 5K is dirtier.

We had a few issues when sticking it back in, My extractors played a massive part in that. We think we might have bent them when either pulling the 4K out or dropping the 5K in. The help of Trev's trusty hammer got the inlet manifold on. We stuck the one from the 4K on as it had no emission controls. I'll see how that goes and if I have to I'll change it back.

Only one problem left. Its reading a fairly high temp as I'm driving. It sits around 2/3's on the highway and 1/2 when I'm stationary. Would anyone know what my problem could be?

Driving home last night was soo good. She has got a fair bit of extra power. I LOVE IT!!

Wasn't over heating in the 70 so maybe they have different temp senders ?
