Dan Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 (edited) You know, it might be because Malaysians get really shitty fuel.. from my understanding, cars that are running 98 octane fuel seem to get marginally better fuel economy (from what I've read and heard) then conventional 93 octane fuel. Have shit in the fuel, you have to rev it harder to get the power therefore using more fuel. So the way I see it is either a) Malaysia gets shitty fuel b) Malaysian people can't drive for shit unless they are Fook (or similar), then they can drive incredibly well c) All of the above :jamie: Dan. Redwarf Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Dan, I'd re phrase the above, as Fook would be able to drive rings around you, and most other people on this board.
bruce Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 Malaysian fuel would be the same as everywhere else I reckon. Malaysian traffic conditions might be different to Australias. Australia got more open roads etc. while Malaysian has probably got mostly city type traffic. Perhaps the weather has an effect. I've found that city driving (lots of stops and starts) chews a bit of fuel in my KE30, compared with other cars I've had (from the same era). But if I take it real easy on the highway, I can proabaly get over 600 km on 40L of fuel. There would be better fuel economy with the higher octane fuel, but you have to pay for it. I'm just wondering which fuel is best, for cost per kilometer :jamie:
JiP Posted July 21, 2006 Author Report Posted July 21, 2006 (edited) I'm quite proud of Lolla. I just fueled her up this week. The last time i fueled up was... Wednesday, 28th June 2006. Thats 3 weeks!! I'm quite happy considdering that it costs me $60 if not more to fuel her up. :hammer: Edited July 21, 2006 by JiP_01
Hiro Protagonist Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 Malaysian fuel would be the same as everywhere else I reckon. Don't count on it, European fuels are better than Australian ones (check out Euro diesels, for example), and I'd doubt that the poorer countries would have Ultimate or the like readily available or controlled, so there can be marked differences between fuels in different countries.
bruce Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 I've fill up mine about a week and a half ago, and I've still got half a tank. Done about 185 km; all city and suburban driving. I mostly catch the bus during the week though, because all day parking in the city is too expensive. Then I go cruising around at night
JiP Posted July 21, 2006 Author Report Posted July 21, 2006 Another thing, yesterday when i was at AutObarn i saw something called "DYNO-TAB's". They are tablets that you drop into your petrol tank to improve economy, reduce smoke & emissions and it adds octane & power. Anyone tried these?? All the guys at the parts counter said that it works.
woteva Posted July 21, 2006 Report Posted July 21, 2006 I haven't tried them but: http://www.dynotab.com/ w.

irokin Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 I changed from an auto to a manual and dropped about 1.2L/100km (9.5 - 8.3) and I still have a borked dizzy with no working vac advance.
Dan Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 Dan, I'd re phrase the above, as Fook would be able to drive rings around you, and most other people on this board. Oops, didn't think about that. coln72 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 Ive neve got more than 32mpg out of a Corolla. Changing to a 5K didnt change it, fitting twins didnt change it, changing diff ratios didnt change it much. It was just the way I drove.
7shades Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 I drove my last ke70 wagon from cairns to darwin on the stock 4 speed... I got the absolute roaring sh*ts with not being able to do over 120 on the stuart highway ( no speed limit :) )cos the valves were bouncing off the pistons and all the oil was being forced into the head and not back down again... I found a wreck with a T50 and swapped it over in a supermarket car park. I completely circumnavgated the continent on that trip... stocko 4kc with 450 odd thou on it. was getting about 600ks per tank.
love ke70 Posted July 31, 2006 Report Posted July 31, 2006 what rpm was that doing at 120? i do 120 in 4th with the 5 speed (which has 4.1 diff) and it does ~4500 i think...ur engine musta been rooted or did u have it in second? :)
