David[RL] Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 What types of fuel is best for the 4k engine? does the engine run on 98? or just 95 Quote
Super Jamie Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 92 octane unleaded with standard ignition timing advance timing to 10-12 degrees and you can run 95-98 octane Quote
MarcD Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Leaded in Australia is 96 octane isnt it? Quote
irokin Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 I run 92 RON unleaded...don't have any problems. With the old aisan it wouldnt ping or get valve rattle...weber is a whole different ball game..gotta be careful not to fuel up the engine too much at low RPM... Quote
Super Jamie Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 LRP is supposed to be govt legislated to be 95RON. they used to do secret-shopper-like tests on pumps when it first came out, not sure if they still do Quote
MarcD Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 Hrmm I might just fork out the extra and just use Ultimate. LRP seems to me is like the Diet Coke of fuel. Quote
Super Jamie Posted June 25, 2004 Report Posted June 25, 2004 back when i used LRP, it was fine, better than regular unleaded beacuse i had the timing advanced. but bp ultimate is better, that's all i'll put in this motor with its' high compression etc etc Quote
